Teaching Artists (SUMMER)
TEACHING ARTISTS
At STAGES Performing Arts Academy, we are dedicated to cultivating creativity in a safe and engaging environment. We continually search for energetic arts educators to join our inspiring team of teaching artists. SPAA offers evening and weekend classes, full-scale productions, community outreach programming, and summer camps for students grades K-12; all of which need teaching artists to make it possible!
Currently, we are searching for educators for both our on-site classes and community outreach programs for the 2025 summer season. Summer camps run from June 2nd – August 9th, Monday-Friday, 9am-4pm.
These educators should confidently manage a classroom, as well as promote growth within students through these specific areas of focus:
- Vocal Instruction
- Dance Instruction
- Acting Instruction
Key Responsibilities:
- Create weekly lesson plans, activities, and/or rehearsal schedules.
- Teach weekly sessions ranging in 3-6 hours in length (half-day & full-day options).
- Prepare students for a 15-minute, high-quality showcase performance to take place at the end of each camp session.
- Communicate consistently with students and parents regarding important class or production information.
- Attend staff meetings and professional development sessions.

Company Manager/Artistic Assistant
STAGES St. Louis, a professional musical theatre company entering our 39th season, is seeking a Company Manager/Artistic Assistant to join our team. The 2025 Season will take place at the Kirkwood Performing Arts Center and will consist of Murder for Two, Austen’s Pride and Beautiful: The Carole King Musical.
This position is a mixture of part-time hours and full-time hours throughout the year:
- March 17 – April 13, 2025 – PART-TIME
- April 14 – October 24, 2025 – FULL-TIME
- Dates are semi flexible.
The Company Manager/Artistic Assistant’s duty is to support the commitment to preserving and advancing the art form of Musical Theatre by assisting the Artistic Director and Artistic General Manager in ensuring the wellbeing of all STAGES’ guest Artists and supporting all artistic initiatives across the organization.
Essential Functions:
- Oversee all Company Management needs including, but not limited to:

- Arranging all travel and housing needs for guest Artists, Stage Management, and Creative Team members
- Arranging local transportation for incoming and outgoing Artists on airport travel days and throughout the Season
- Assisting with any company meals for Artists and Technicians
- Creating welcome packets and managing the hospitality needs of company members
- Checking in with Actors and Technicians on a weekly basis, and assisting with any medical issues that may arise

- Attending design, production, and other meetings and maintaining supportive collaboration with Department leaders as needed
- Assisting the Artistic Director with duties as assigned.

- Processing all Actor and Creative personal contracts for the season.
- Helping with all contracts, royalties, credit card reconciliations, worker’s compensation reports and budgeting.
- Conducting research to assist the Artistic General Manager in licensing all professional seasonal productions.
- Onboarding all Artists.
- Creating and maintaining a Seasonal Staff emergency contact sheet.
- Sharing the on-call duty with the Company Management Intern, which entails being available via the Company Management cell phone and STAGES email according to the on-call schedule during the Season when guest Artists are in St. Louis. Sick and personal days will be scheduled as needed.
- Assist Artistic General Manager with all artistic and staffing needs for any STAGES’ Special Events.
Other Responsibilities:
- Manage all aspects of personal performance and development to encourage professional growth.

Education, Experience, and Skill Level required:
- Bachelor’s degree in theatre preferred or equivalent work experience as an administrative assistant or company manager.

Development Assistant
STAGES St. Louis (STAGES), a non-profit Musical Theatre company, seeks a part-time Development Assistant to manage Donor Perfect database, input and acknowledge gifts, and assist with Development projects.
Team Member Responsibilities and Key Objectives
The Development Assistant is responsible for managing the donor database and assisting the Development Team with the following activities:
- Develop an advanced understanding of Donor Perfect CRM Database
- Implementing best practices for Donor Perfect
- Enter donations and pledges with 100% accuracy
- Generate letters of acknowledgment and invoices for gifts in a timely manner
- Prepare and mailing renewal letters
- Run reports and pull segmented donor lists from Donor Perfect
- Review local media sources for donor profile updates – deaths, marriages, births, etc.
- Prepare gift imports for QuickBooks and balancing posts with the Finance Department
- Work with Marketing Department on e-blasts using Constant Contact and Dot Digital
- Conduct prospect research
- Demonstrate professionalism with donors and staff
- Assist with planning and logistics for major fundraising events including the Applause Gala, Cheers, Trivia Night, donor thank you events, and pre/post show receptions

Usher
Usher positions are seasonal, with employment from May 29th through October 19th. The position is part-time, seasonal, with hours varying by week ranging from 12-20 hours per week. The position entails mostly evening and weekend hours, with some daytime hours for weekday/weekend matinee performances. The performance schedule varies by week.

The STAGES St. Louis Spotlight on Careers Internship + Apprenticeship Programs is designed to train the next generation of theatre professionals in the skills necessary to become successful and integral parts of the theatre community. We combine practical hands-on experience with the opportunity to work with and learn from seasoned theatre professionals. While immersed in the professional world, our interns gain in-depth knowledge and experience in their chosen areas to become well-rounded theatre practitioners.
Director & Director/Choreographer Internship
STAGES St. Louis seeks a Directing Intern for the 2025 Season musical production of MURDER FOR TWO and a Director/ Choreographer Intern for its musical production of BEAUTIFUL.
The Interns will work directly with the Director and Choreographer (if applicable) of the mainstage shows as well as the Artistic Director. Duties for the Directing Intern would include attending rehearsals, taking notes, and generally assisting the Director with the realization of their vision in the rehearsal and tech process as needed. The Director/ Choreographer Intern would also be expected to learn and assist the choreographer with dance as needed. The successful applicant is detailed-oriented, self-motivated, works well in a fast-paced environment, and responds with flexibility to the needs of various collaborators and to rapidly changing circumstances. Music Internship
STAGES St. Louis seeks Music Intern for the 2025 Season production BEAUTIFUL: A CAROLE KING STORY.
The Intern will work directly with the Music Director, Director and Musicians of each production. Duties for the Music Intern will include attending rehearsals, taking notes, and generally assisting the Music Director. The Intern will also have the chance to play accompaniment to limited amount of rehearsals when needed.
The successful applicant is detailed-oriented, self-motivated, works well in a fast-paced environment, and responds with flexibility to the needs of various collaborators and to rapidly changing circumstances. Applicants should be able to read music and play the piano and have experience accompanying singers. BEAUTIFUL requires knowledge of R&B and early rock. Experience with MainStage is a plus.

Carpenters

Stages St. Louis is looking for Carpenters for our 2025 season. Although start and end dates are flexible, we hope to find personnel that can fulfill the largest contract possible. The Carpenters work closely with the other members of the carpentry staff to build scenery and load in and out shows.
Dates: 1 position 8/11/25-9/26/25
Starting at: $16/hour

- Confident reading and interpreting drawings and building scenery in wood and metal
- Competence and comfort using power tools including but not limited to circular saws and impact drivers
- Familiar with and able to follow safe rigging practices.

Working conditions include long days, working nights, weekends, and some overtime. Noise levels vary from very quiet to large machinery. A moderate degree of physical ability is associated with production positions, including ability to infrequently lift up to 50 pounds, pulling ropes, wear PPE, standing for long periods, climb ladders and stairs, and working at heights. Climate control varies significantly, and shops are not air conditioned. May be required travel locally on a regular basis, including driving a company cargo van. A high degree of working awareness is a must.

Stages St. Louis is looking for a Launderer for our 2025 season. Although start and end dates are flexible, we hope to find personnel that can fulfill the largest contract possible. The Launderer works closely with the other members of the wardrobe team.
Dates: 7/7/25-10/24/25
Starting at: $15/hour
- Required skills
- Confident working with complex costumes, working quickly and effectively
- Ability to do minor sewing repairs and notes
- Ability to remain driven and on task in a largely solo working environment
- Required duties
- Launder garments on a specific schedule which will be determined by the Wardrobe Supervisor and/or Costume Shop Manager
- Garments will be laundered according to specific instructions on cleaning, detergent products, and drying instructions from the Wardrobe Supervisor and/or Costume Shop Manager
- Perform stain removal or odor removal practices
- Assist setup, maintenance, and tear down of dressing rooms
- Perform repairs or alterations on costumes, wigs, and accessories
- Assist in the strike and storage of each production
- Assist in the costume shop as needed between shows

May be required to travel locally on a regular basis, including driving a company cargo van. A high degree of working awareness is a must.

The Season consists of three large-scale musicals: Murder for Two, the pre-Broadway production of Austen’s Pride, and Beautiful: The Carole King Musical and runs from May through October. Start and End dates depend on each position. All seasonal positions are paid bi-weekly on Fridays. Although limited housing is available, preference will be given to local (St. Louis, Missouri) applicants.

Stages St. Louis is looking for an A2 for our 2025 season. Although start and end dates are flexible, we hope to find personnel that can fulfill the largest contract possible. The A2 works closely with the Audio Supervisor and Sound Designer to work within the Audio department and handle mics for performers.

- Confident handling and troubleshooting microphones for performers
- Preference given to previous experience with Digico SD9, Aviom personal mixers, L’Acoustics PA, and typical musical theatre audio and video needs

- Demonstrate knowledge of standard equipment and practices to implement the Sound Designer’s plans
- Work with Music Director to fulfill the audio and video needs for the Music departments
- Work with audio staff in shop and theatre
- Perform any repairs or maintenance on audio equipment
- Under the direction of the Audio Supervisor, work in shops and in theatre load in, tech, run, and strike

- Leading teams in set mounted practical effects
- Preference given to previous experience with ETC systems
- Required duties
- Run the spotlight during all technical rehearsals, performances, photo calls, and work calls
- Participate in hang, circuit, dimmer patch, focus and/or strike of lighting instruments for each production
- Assist with pre-season prep, load-in, changeovers and season strike
- Assist in maintaining equipment during run of shows
- Perform duties as assigned by the Electrics Supervisor or Assistant Electrics Supervisors
