Renting with STAGES St. Louis FAQ

What do we have? 

-We have a variety of costumes and props from various time periods.  
-Much of what we have is in smaller sizes.  

Who do we rent to? 

-Theatres, educational and community organizations, television, film, and commercial event 

Hours/Appointments  

-We are typically open weekly Monday-Friday but require an appointment for anyone who wants to come look at our stock or pick anything up.
-You can email rentals@stagesstlouis.org to set up an appointment.
-Time between communication can be up to 3-4 days, so quick turnaround rentals are not guaranteed. 
-We will not be taking appointments in 2024 on the following days:
         May 22 through May 31 
        July 17 through July 26
        September 11 through September 20 

How long can I rent from you? 

-Length of rentals is open to discussion based on the needs of the project the rentals are for. Typically pick up will be 1-3 weeks prior to the event or show, and return is within the 1-2 weeks following. Longer rentals may include additional fees to account for the length of time the piece will be in use and unavailable to our team and other renters. 

What do we ship? 

-We will ship rentals at cost to the user on most occasions.  
-Orders being shipped will include an additional pulling fee based on the time our staff needs to find and package your items.  
-Any oversized, oddly shaped, or extra heavy objects will have added shipping fees.  

Do I need to clean items I rent? 

-All clothing is expected to be dry cleaned prior to return, and all props are expected to be dusted/vacuumed appropriately.  

What if something gets damaged or lost during my rental period? 

-An invoice will be sent for the cost to repair or replace the item based on the damages.  

Can I bring people with me to try on clothes and see the props? 

-We ask that no more than 6 people come to appointments at our shops. 

Do you offer design assistance or alterations? 

-We can often help with some design assistance and small alterations if there is time for our staff to do so within our season. Any additional help in pulling, designs, or alterations will add commission costs to the rental fees.
